United states of america

Outside of Egypt, the United States has the largest proportion of Copts in the world. An estimated 300 000 Copts live in the US with over 200 established churches all throughout. The first Coptic church in the US (and in North America) was St. Mark's in Jersey City in the late 1960s, and now there are 6 Dioceses with 13 bishops serving the Coptic American population. There are 5 Coptic monasteries and 2 convents scattered about (more info below).  Also located here in Cedar Grove, NJ, is the headquarters of the Archdiocese of North America, El Maqar.

LA Copts
Diocese of Los Angeles, Southern California and Hawaii

Shepherded by H.E Metropolitan Bishop Serapion, who is lovingly assisted by Auxillary Bishops Anba Abraham and Anba Kyrillos. There is two Coptic monasteries within this diocese, St. Antony in Newberry Springs and the St Paul Brotherhood in Murrietta.

Fun fact: LA has the largest number of churches of any city in North America.

Diocese of Southern United States

Shepherded by H.E Metropolitan Bishop Youssef, who is lovingly assisted by Auxillary Bishops Basil (in charge of Florida) and Gregory (in charge of Texas). The headquarters of this diocese is in Dallas. There is a monastery, St Mary and St Moses the Strong Abbey in Texas, and St. Mary and St. Demiana Convent in Georgia.

Fun fact: This diocese blessed the world with Coptic Reader!

NY Copts
Diocese of New York and New England

Shepherded by H.G Bishop David, this diocese covers most of the NE United States. There is one monastery in this diocese, St Shenouda Monastery in northwest New York state. 

Fun fact: This diocese was the first to publish many traditional Coptic texts into English, including the Agbeya!

Diocese of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Kentucky

Shepherded by H.G Bishop Peter. This diocese is a new one and is steadily growing in its congregation.

Fun fact: Bishop Peter was a monk in St Mary and St Moses Abbey in Texas, and is the first monk from America to be ordained a bishop in America!

Diocese of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware and West Virginia

Shepherded by H.G Bishop Karas, with 17 churches spanning four states. 

 

Fun fact: This diocese, along with the Diocese of Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana, are the newest dioceses in North America, being established in 2017.

Diocese of Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana

Shepherded by H.G Bishop Saraphim. This is the smallest diocese with only 11 churches, but its congregation is growing nonetheless.

Fun fact: This diocese, along with the Diocese of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware and West Virgina, are the newest dioceses in North America, being established in 2017.

Archdioces of North America
Archdiocese of North America

This diocese includes all Churches in the US not included in a diocese, and is overseen by Pope Tawadros II. Within this Archdiocese, there is the Holy Suffragan Diocese of Alexandria and of all Virgina (overseen by H.G Bishop Michael, who is the only current Suffragan bishop) and the Archdiocese of Northern California and the Western United States. 

More recently, H.G Bishop Gabriel has been appointed as Patriarchal Exarch (or representative of the pope) over the churches in Cedar Grove, NJ.
