COPTS ABROAD
Many Places. ONE Church.
Australia
Australia served as one of the main centers of Coptic emigration in the late 1960s, and soon grew to be the second-largest population of Copts outside of Egypt (only the US has a larger population). Today, there are around 100 000 Copts residing in Australia with over 50 churches, 3 monasteries, 3 convents, 2 Theological colleges, and 4 schools. Out of any other place in the Diaspora, the Coptic community of Australia has built itself up and become a leader in its community! There are two dioceses which serve the population, which also serve missions in parts of Asia (more information in that tab), as listed below.

Diocese of Sydney, New South Wales, Queensland, Northern Territory and all East Asia
Shepherded by H.G Bishop Daniel, this diocese spans the North and East of Australia, with many missions into Asia. This diocese contains the first Coptic church in Australia, St Mary and St Mina's Bexley, and is also home to two monasteries - St Shenouda in Putty and St Anthony outside Brisbane, and two convents - St Mary in Goulburn and Archangel Michael outside Brisbane.
Fun fact: The first Coptic Theological College out side of Egypt was built in Sydney in 1982!
Diocese of Melbourne, West and South Australia, New Zealand and All Oceania
This diocese is currently under the direct supervision of Pope Tawadros II. Headquartered in Donvale outside Melbourne, this diocese spans across the West and South of Australia, New Zealand, and has missions throughout Oceania. It contains St Anthony's Monastery in Heathcote and Archangel Michael Convent in Woodend.
Fun fact: In the 1960s, Copts who had already established homes in Melbourne would wait at historical Station Pier Wharf for newcomers from Egypt, giving them beds and employment!
